Zamfara APC Demands Arrest of PDP Women Leader Over alleged Election Threats, voters intimidation.

The All Progressive Congress ( APC) in Zamfara state, has urged security agencies to immediately arrest the state PDP women leader Hajiya Rabi Madawaki over her violent threats against voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by the APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, and made available to journalists in Gusau said APC as a strong opposition party in the state will not be intimidated by any threats from the Zamfara PDP.

Malam Idris Yusuf Gusau called on security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), to immediately arrest and prosecute Hajiya Madawaki, insisting that her comments constitute a criminal threat and incitement to violence.

The party argued that, she does not enjoy any form of constitutional immunity and should therefore be treated like any ordinary citizen who makes such dangerous and inflammatory remarks.

Malam Yusuf Gusau said the party in Zamfara State has strongly condemned what it described as inciting and threatening remarks allegedly made by the PDP Women Leader, Hajiya Rabi Madawaki, during a political gathering held in Gusau on Friday, May 16, 2025.

According to the APC, Hajiya Madawaki, speaking in the Hausa language and in the presence of Zamfara State First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda, warned that anyone who fails to vote for Governor Dauda Lawal in the forthcoming 2027 elections would be physically assaulted.

The APC claimed the statement, translated loosely as “We will beat, maim, anyone who does not vote for Dauda” (“zamu ci ubanshi zamu yi mashi duka”), was repeated multiple times to drive home the threat"

He said Such type of utterance was not only irresponsible but poses a grave threat to the peace and democratic process of the state.

“If such threats could come from someone without any constitutional authority, it begs the question of what plans the state government itself may be harboring."

The party reiterated its earlier accusations that the PDP-led administration has failed to adequately respond to the worsening insecurity in the state, including ongoing banditry, and accused Governor Dauda Lawal of ignoring the plight of victims of violence.

It says despite these concerns, the APC affirmed its resolve not to be intimidated and vowed to continue mobilizing Zamfara residents ahead of the 2027 elections

APC Accuses Zamfara Governor Over False Claims on Banditry victims, Demands Apology.

The All Progressives Congress APC in Zamfara State has strongly criticized Governor Dauda Lawal over what it described as misleading statements regarding to his administration’s efforts in tackling armed banditry and providing support to banditry victims.

This follows a viral video where the governor was seen speaking to journalists about his government's handling of security and the welfare of those affected by the ongoing insecurity.

In a statement issued by the APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, described the governor's remarks as insincere and deceptive.

Malam Idris Yusuf Gusau alleged that, the administration had failed to fulfill key campaign promises, particularly the pledge to end banditry within the first two months of assuming office.

“Governor Lawal appears to be preparing to mark his second year in office without any meaningful progress on his major campaign promise. Instead of improvement, insecurity has worsened in Zamfara,” the statement read.

According Yusuf Idris, Governor Lawal recent comments at the Gusau General Hospital showed a lack of seriousness and compassion.

"The party also accused the governor of neglecting victims of attacks. “Rather than visiting communities ravaged by bandits or sending credible delegations to sympathize and offer support, Governor Lawal chooses to travel from one state or country to another, enjoying the company of friends and family while his people suffer.”

He pointed out that, a major point of contention was the governor’s claim that victims of gunshot wounds receive free treatment at Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital and the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau.

“That is simply false,” Idris stated. “Just weeks ago, I personally witnessed victims being turned away from Yariman Bakura Hospital due to lack of funds. Tragically, some of them died as a result, with no assistance from the government.”

The APC called on the governor to publicly release the names, communities, and treatment details of beneficiaries who supposedly received free care, including the amount spent and the relevant receipts or payment records.

The APC Spokesman further asked the Governor and the management of the two hospitals to publish comprehensive records of the alleged free treatments provided under his administration.”

The party further urged journalists who conducted the interview to verify the governor’s claims and probe deeper into the situation of victims in remote areas of the state, such as Tsafe Local Government Area, who may not have access to facilities in Gusau.

“The truth is, the Zamfara State Government under Dauda Lawal has neither identified nor supported any gunshot victim. His claims are fabrications designed for political propaganda,” Idris declared.

The statement concluded with a call for Governor Lawal to apologize to the people of Zamfara and the entire country for “misleading the public,” and to take sincere, coordinated action with relevant stakeholders to end insecurity and care for victims.

He emphasized that, the citizens of Zamfara state are discerning enough to recognize lies wrapped in propaganda, stressing that, Governor Lawal must start telling the truth or remain silent to avoid further embarrassment,” the statement added.

He disclosed that the rehabilitation project was awarded last year to a reputable indigenous company, which executed the work to a high standard.

He added, "To the people of Anka and neighboring areas, this project represents the fulfillment of one of our promises to deliver the dividends of democracy and improve citizens' well-being."

Dr lawal pointed out that, the comprehensive renovation covered several key areas, including the GOPD/Old Admin Block, Male Ward, Female Ward, Pharmacy Block, New Gate Fence, and a link corridor connecting the Female Ward, X-ray, and Theatre Block. New structures were also constructed for the Accident and Emergency Unit, Laboratory, Eye and Dental Clinic, and Maternity/Old Laboratory Ward.

Gov. Lawal reaffitms commitment to Zamfara Health Care, inaugurates Renovated General Hospital Gusau.

Governor Dauda Lawal has reaffirmed his commitment to revitalizing the Zamfara Healthcare System, fulfilling his administration’s promise to deliver accessible, quality medical services to the people.

The Governor commissioned the fully renovated and remodeled General Hospital Gusau on Friday.

A statement by the governor's spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, revealed that the general hospital's renovation covers the Accident and Emergency unit, Gynecology Ward, Maternity Ward, Administrative Block, Amenity Ward, and Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).

Other sections renovated and equipped include the Maternity Theatre, Common Room, Obstetrics and Gynecology Call Room, Main Operating Theatre, Radiology Department, Orthopedic Ward and Theatre, General Outpatient Department (GOPD), and ENT, Eye and Dental Clinics.

During his speech at the commissioning, Governor Lawal noted that upon taking office in May 2023, he encountered a healthcare system that had suffered from years of neglect and a lack of investment.

He said, “Our administration, driven by the core pillars of the Rescue Agenda, immediately initiated a comprehensive needs assessment across all the general hospitals. Needless to say, the report was shocking and quite unsettling.

“For example, in a state of almost 6 million persons with all the challenges that abound, there was only one ultrasound machine in all government-owned facilities, and even this was held together by seal tape! I immediately declared a state of emergency in the health sector to restore infrastructure, equip our hospitals, and provide motivation, training, and retraining healthcare professionals.

“To complement the infrastructural upgrades, we also awarded a contract for the supply, installation, testing, furnishing, and staff training on modern medical equipment.

“As is the norm in this administration, Zamfara State, we ensure that all the equipment supplied and installed is of the highest standards and meets the available specifications.

“Let me emphasize that this commissioning is part of a larger reform sweeping across the entire healthcare landscape in Zamfara State. You may recall that we have already commissioned renovated general hospitals in Kaura, Maradun, Maru, and Nasarawa Burkullu.

“Also, plans are underway for commissioning other key hospitals, including the Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, General Hospital, Talata Mafara, Shinkafi, and General Hospital, Tsafe, among others.

“Furthermore, following the ratification of the State Executive Council, the Ministry of Health has commenced the process of fully equipping General Hospitals in Anka. Again, this includes the supply and installation of cutting-edge equipment, complete furnishing, and the training of biomedical technical staff.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, these interventions reflect our vision to build a modern, functional, and sustainable healthcare system that drastically reduces the need for external referrals and ensures that our citizens receive quality care close to home.

“While we celebrate this achievement, I wish to draw the attention of the hospital’s management to the need for utmost vigilance in the usage and maintenance of this facility.”

Contributing, Faruk Musa Dosara representing Maradun 1, Amiru Ahmed Keta Member representing Tsafe West and  Bashir Abubakar Masama  representing Bukkuyum North said the monthly N800 million which have now been removed to personal accounts for the period of 23 months, if judiciously utilised, would have saved the state capital, Gusau from its current perennial water shortage which have forced residents to buy a 25 litre jerry can at between N300 and N500.

The Speaker,  Bashir Aliyu Gummi, then referred the matter to the House Adhoc Committee for investigation with the report to be forwarded to EFCC and ICPC for further investigation and prosecution.

The House called on human rights groups and other civil society organisations and the federal government to intervene and save the students who have turned marauders in Cyprus.

Dr. Maradun called on stakeholders to collaborate in achieving the committee's mandate and supporting the state's rescue mission agenda on health.

She appreciated the support of health partners and emphasized the need for collective efforts to improve healthcare delivery.

The meeting discussed various implementation challenges and proposed solutions, including strategies to secure 25% counterpart funding from state and local governments and update the committee on BHCPF Phase II.

The committee was adjourned to July to follow up on actionable points not achieved, with a commitment to ensuring efficient accountability mechanisms through effective supervision.
The development underscores the Zamfara State government's commitment to improving healthcare delivery and outcomes for its citizens.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health, Local Government Commission, National Primary Health Care Board, Account General Office, Auditor General, ZAMCHEMA National Health Insurance Agency, Developmental Partners, and other relevant agencies.

Zamfara factional Assembly dissolves House Committees, accuses them of financial misappropriation

The Zamfara State Factional House of Assembly has today announced the dissolution of all principal officers,  standing committees and appointed two sensitive committees to give the institution a better focus.

This was disclosed by the factional speaker,  Hon. Bashar Aliyu Gummi shortly after the House Plenary, which was held in Gusau,  the state capital.

He said two standing committees, that of Ethics and Privileges as well as Works and Infrastructure, have been reconstituted to be chaired by Hon. Masama and Hon. Bashir Sarkin Zango immediately.
The House resolved to file all financial misappropriation reports against the dissolved House Principal officers to the EFCC and ICPC  in order to recover all diverted public funds.

During the sitting and under matters of urgent public importance,  the lawmakers condemned the lopsided appointment of Permanent Secretaries by the Dauda Lawal led administration.
In the motion raised by Hon. Ibrahim Tudu Tukur,  member representing Bakura State Constituency drew the attention of the members to how some local government areas were completely edged out in the appointment of Permanent Secretaries when some favoured local government areas had more than nine, citing Tsafe, Maradun and Birnin Magaji local government areas as having none.

He noted that the action is a violation of the 1999 constitution as amended and must be reviewed in the principle of fairness and justice to all citizens of the state.

The House immediately directed the state governor, Dauda Lawal to reverse the appointments and include the appointment of Permanent Secretaries fairly from all the local government areas of the state.

Similarly,  the factional legislative arm frowned at the slow pace of the multi billion naira Gusau-Dansadau road project where huge sums of money had been given to the contractors since last year but work is yet to cover even five kilometres.

Members then directed the state Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure to appear before the House to explain the problem, pointing out that "all public and tax payers money must be judiciously spent on the purposes meant."

The House also urged governor Dauda Lawal to direct for the reopening at least two boarding schools shut down due to insecurity in each of the three Senatorial Districts as demanded by parents to allow for better studies with the legislature accusing government refusal to reopen the schools in order to avoid the school feeding program which had helped underprivileged children and retained students in schools.

It would be recalled that a parallel State House of Assembly has emerged last week Wednesday, headed by Hon. Gummi which has been raising sensitive issues of public concern against both the executive and the Hon.
