Former Governor of Zamfara State and Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has donated 80 trucks of assorted fertilizers for distribution to farmers across the state as part of this year’s wet season farming support.
In a similar gesture, Senator Yari also donated 30 trucks of 50kg bags of rice to be shared among the less privileged in Zamfara ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Speaking shortly after a meeting held in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, Chairman of the Distribution Committee, Dr. Lawal Liman Gabdon Kaura, said the Senator has made it a tradition to support farmers and vulnerable citizens annually in order to ease their burden and improve their livelihood.
A statement issued by the Chairman of the Publicity Committee, Ibrahim Muhammad Birnin Magaji, quoted Dr. Liman who also serves as Chairman of the Governing Board of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, Zaria, Kaduna State as saying that, the rice will be distributed free of charge, with five beneficiaries allocated to each bag.
He further explained that, the fertilizers will be sold to interested farmers at a 50% discount to enhance productivity and affordability.
According to him, a minimum of 6,000 individuals from each of the 14 Local Government Areas of Zamfara State will benefit from the rice distribution, amounting to about 84,000 beneficiaries in total.
Dr. Liman appealed to beneficiaries to continue offering prayers for Senator Yari and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whom he commended for ongoing efforts to improve the living conditions of Nigerians and secure the nation's future.
