Massive Crowd Storms Freedom Square to Celebrate Governor Dauda Lawal’s Two-Year Anniversary in Office.

Thousands of residents in Zamfara State have converged on Freedom Square in Gusau yesterday evening to mark the two-year anniversary of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration.

The venue was filled with supporters  including youths, women, the elderly, political loyalists, and other well-wishers who turned out in large numbers to celebrate the achievements recorded under the current government.

The event began with a symbolic solidarity walk for peace, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, accompanied by his deputy, Malam Mani Malam Mummuni, members of the state executive council, lawmakers, party stalwarts, and a crowd of supporters. 

The walk commenced from the gate of the Government House and proceeded to the venue at Freedom Square, symbolizing unity and collective progress.
Addressing the jubilant crowd, Governor Dauda Lawal expressed his profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for the grace to witness two successful years in office.

He also extended appreciation to the people of Zamfara State for their unwavering support, prayers, and cooperation in the quest to actualize the development agenda of his administration.

“In the next one year, many people may not be able to recognize the roads leading to their communities due to the transformations we are committed to implementing across the state,” the governor assured.
Governor Lawal announced that his administration has procured large quantities of fertilizer and other essential agricultural inputs for distribution to farmers ahead of the 2025 farming season. 

He noted that his government is prioritizing agriculture as a key sector to ensure food security and economic growth.

On security, the governor stated that significant progress had been made in addressing the challenges of banditry and other criminal activities, adding that his administration remains resolute in restoring peace and order across the state.
He also highlighted notable achievements in sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment, reaffirming his commitment to delivering dividends of democracy to all citizens.

Also speaking at the event, the State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Abdulmalik Gajam, commended the governor for fulfilling the majority of his campaign promises.

He emphasized improvements in basic education, health services, rural and urban infrastructure, and initiatives aimed at empowering youths and women.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mukhtar Lugga, described Governor Lawal as a true democrat and a visionary leader who has remained committed to the development of Zamfara State. 

He praised the governor’s sincerity, accountability, and people-centered leadership.

Similarly, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Nakwada, lauded Governor Lawal for his inclusive governance style, which he said has fostered unity and progress in the state.

Throughout the event, women and youths were seen singing, dancing, and waving banners in celebration of the administration’s two-year milestone.
Security operatives were stationed at strategic locations, and major roads leading to Freedom Square were temporarily closed to vehicular traffic to allow the free movement of people and ensure safety.

The celebration was not just a political gathering but a show of solidarity and appreciation by the people of Zamfara for what many described as two years of impactful leadership and a renewed hope for sustainable development.

Similarly, the Governor's supporters and residents also gathered at the venue at night, accompanied by various performers, particularly DJs and local Hausa singers, who entertained the crowd with celebratory songs marking the two-year anniversary. 

The event was attended by all government officials, including Governor Dauda Lawal.
