Zamfara APC Urges Members to Remain Peaceful During Matawalle’s Visit.

The Zamfara State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC has urged it members and supporters to remain peaceful, report any suspicious movements to security personnel, and avoid taking the law into their own hands during the Minister of State for Defence visit Dr Bello Matawalle.

The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau made the call at a news conference at the Party Secretariat in Gusau, the Zamfara State Capital.

Malam Yusuf Gusau, called on security agencies to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the Minister’s visit, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday.

According to him, the Minister, who is the immediate past Governor of Zamfara State, would be visiting to meet with party leaders, members, supporters, and well-wishers both in Gusau, the state capital, and in his hometown, Maradun.

Yusuf Gusau also  raised alarm over an alleged plot by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to disrupt the party’s planned activities and the visit of the Minister's.

Malam Idris Gusau also alleged that, credible intelligence available to the APC indicated that, the PDP and some government agents recently held a meeting at the Government House, Gusau, where plans were allegedly made to deploy thugs disguised as APC supporters to infiltrate and disrupt the party’s gatherings.

He further alleged that the party had received reports suggesting that, armed thugs may be stationed around Tsafe and along the Gusau–Maradun route to attack the APC motorcade during the Minister’s movement.

“As a law-abiding party, we are calling on security agencies to take note of this development and act swiftly to forestall any breakdown of law and order,” he said.

Malam Idris thanked journalists for their continued support and urged them to report responsibly in the interest of peace and stability in the state.
