Zamfara govt. assures implementation of N70,000 minimum wage after verification of workers.

Zamfara State government has assured full implementation of the new National Minimum Wage Immediately after the ongoing verification of workers across the state.

The Zamfara State Head of Service, Alhaji Ahmad Liman made this known at a press conference at government House Gusau.the State Capital.

He said 20 ghost medical Doctors were discovered during the ongoing verification exercise at one Hospital in the State.

Alhaji Ahmad Liman who is also the Chairman steering committee for the verification exercise explained that, the ongoing verification for the workers had became necessary with a view to come out with accurate data of the entire  workforce across the state

Stressing that, the exercise would go along away in given government opportunity to recruit more workers and also to implement the new minimum wage of 70,000 for civil servants.

According to him, Zamfara State currently has a workforce of over 34,000, apart from local government employees.

Alhaji Liman maintained that, more ghost workers from other ministries had been identified, assuring that, full report would be released after the exercise.

Alhaji Liman expressed confidence that, the full implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage would commence once the verification exercise concludes at the end of this month of November and summit it report to the Governor.

“I assure that, upon receiving the committee’s report, the government will approve the full implementation of the new minimum wage,” Liman said.

The verification committee, led by Liman and including representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), is working diligently to complete the exercise within the targeted timeline.
