The Sector Commander of the Corps Mr Tijjani Iliyasu flagged off the campaign during a town hall meeting in Gusau to discuss on the issue.
Mr Tijjani Iliyasu explained that, the essence of the town hall meeting was to bring together critical stakeholders on the need to educate the participants and motorist through other platforms on the danger of over loading and over speeding in this ember months that most Nigerians travel across the country.
Mr Iliyasu noted that, the campaign was part of measures to addressing heavy traffic and road crashes across the state, revealing that, the command has also focused on re-educating passengers to understand their right by ensuring driver reache their destination safely without any distractions while driving
He stressed the need for the personnel to redouble efforts in sensitising commuters on safety regulations to achieve the desire objective of free accident.
Mr Iliyasu appealed to the motorist perticulerly commercial drivers to always comply with traffic rules and regulations to save lives.
Ealier, the former Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Federal University Gusau, Professor Ahmad Galadima Spoke on some of factors attributing to road accident.
In a remark, Zamfara State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure Alhaji Lawal Barau Bungudu, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Tukur Shehu Maradun said the initiative was not just a campaign but a collective goal to action
Alhaji Lawal Barau lamented on how overloading of goods and passengers became rampant in commercial vehicles, hence the need for the drivers to avoid anything that can lead to road crashes.
He however urged the participants put into practice on the knowledge they acquired during the town hall meeting.
In his address the Secretary NURTW in Zamfara State discribed the town Hall meeting as welcome development to the drivers and people of the state.
The participants were drawn from sectors.
